Opposition activist Alexei Navalny given suspended term

MOSCOW, RUSSIA. DECEMBER 30, 2014. Russi­an opposi­ti­on leader Alexei Naval­ny ® and his brother Oleg Naval­ny appear at Moscow’s Zamoskvor­ets­ky District Court for the announ­ce­ment of a verdict in the Yves Rocher fraud case. The Naval­ny brothers are charged with embezzling more than 26 milli­on rubles from Yves Rocher Vostok cosme­tics compa­ny. The court gives Alexei Naval­ny a suspen­ded jail term of three and a half years and Oleg Naval­ny has been senten­ced to three and a half years in prison colony. Artyom Korotayev/TASS
